Captain Kevin’s journey to the helm of Seeley Charters LLC began on the freshwater lakes of Georgia, where he spent his formative years targeting catfish and bass. While those early days on the lake established a lifelong passion for angling, it was a 2015 family vacation to the Alabama coast that sparked a deep-seated love for saltwater fishing. This connection to the region eventually led Kevin to relocate his family to the area permanently, trading the lakeside for the expansive tides of the Intracoastal Waterway and Mobile Bay. His transition from a visitor to a local fixture was driven by a genuine respect for the coastal ecosystem and a desire to master the unique challenges of the Gulf.
In 2017, Kevin began his professional career as a deckhand, learning the intricacies of the local waters under the mentorship of seasoned veterans. He spent years training with Captain Rob, a mentor with over two decades of local experience, who helped refine Kevin’s skills into the precise inshore and nearshore specialist he is today. This rigorous grooming process instilled a grounded, expert-driven approach to navigation and fish behavior. By combining his freshwater roots with high-level saltwater training, Captain Kevin offers a balanced perspective that prioritizes both the technical aspects of the catch and the simple joy of being on the water.
Beyond his technical proficiency, Captain Kevin is known for his patient and teaching-oriented personality. He has a true affinity for working with people of all skill levels, from young children picking up a rod for the first time to experienced anglers looking to sharpen their light-tackle techniques. While he has a particular fondness for the "good fight" offered by a slot-sized Redfish, he appreciates the diversity of species found in the Bon Secour area and beyond. His goal for every departure is to share the specialized techniques he has mastered, ensuring that every guest leaves with a better understanding of Alabama's coastal environment and the local "hotspots."
